data centre in the world - and a consolidation project taking
nearly 4,000 computer servers in six locations worldwide and
consolidating to less than 40 System z Mainframes. In addition,

Internode |
Internode is an internationally connected IP carrier. We manage
our own private network that has high capacity links between
Australian capital cities and between Australia, the United States
and Japan.
Internode has established CO2 - neutral status for its entire operations by undertaking a
major greenhouse gas emission audit and purchasing the necessary
carbon credits. Internode's major greenhouse gas emissions were
from utilities, such as electricity consumption, which accounted
for nearly two thirds of the total figure of 3899.1 tonnes of
carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalents. Other areas included employee
services, flights, equipment, third party services and ground
transportation. By identifying the types and amounts of its
greenhouse gas emissions, Internode was able to reduce or remove
the effect of those emissions by purchasing 3900 fully certified
carbon credit offsets.
This
greenhouse gas emission audit is just the first step in
Internode’s long-term commitment to minimising its environmental
impact. Internode’s CO2 - neutral status has a powerful morale-boosting effect for
employees, partners and customers by reassuring them that
Internode is an environmentally responsible organisation. |

their carbon dioxide equivalent outputs from their current data
centres’ server footprint, but to model the before and after
affects of carbon savings of any planned consolidations or
virtualisations, as well as being able to model performance, space
and other variables. ServerCAR provides accurate configuration
based data and leverages a full history of hardware dating back
